In the border regions of the European Union, the Exile moves from country to country in search of stability. Between attempts, he chats with his fellow travellers about their experiences: the locations of squats, areas that are more or less under control, the prices charged by smugglers... All around him, landscapes and faces come and go. His journey constantly veers off course, slowed down by barriers, drones, patrols and other control measures that dot the route.

The Exile entrusted his story to a volunteer of an NGO supporting people on the move on the Franco-British border. She, in turn, shares his story with us.

Between Istanbul, Dakar, Grande-Synthe and Subotica, a shifting geography emerges: that of solidarity on the roads of exile and their dead ends, as the European Union gradually builds its fortress.
